The "Canasta" is one of the Riccione restaurants looking out onto Viale Ceccarini and Viale Dante, on the crossroads which was once the terminal of the first Rimini-Riccione tram line (1927). It occupies the central location where the Pensione Ristorante Vannucci once stood (1902), among the first business activities to provide accommodation and meals to tourists of the future "Green Pearl"; the Pension was later knocked down to make room for the Schedoni Theatre (1910) and for the Dante Theatre (after the Great War) and the current building (after the Second World War).
The haunt of the VIPs of the period, who would come for an aperitif and for "night hawks" seeking late-evening snacks. Always on the crest of the wave, eight years ago its was radically restyled by Geo Ottaviani, with the help of daughter Vanessa and son Alessandro, who have slilfully blended a modern environment with traditional flavours.
Two anchor points of Canasta philosophy are: professional personnel dedicated to providing a friendly welcome and the preparation of traditional Romagna dishes.
Meat and fish taste delicious, first courses are "homemade", the piadina is made using organic flour and the numerous tasty pizzas bear the "Pizza Rimini" mark, i.e., organic flour and extra-virgin olive oil, free of harmful fats. Canasta: the Riccione Restaurant which has tradition at heart.
The best route to excellence is the way we work, as our enthusiasm and passion combine in synergy...
In the 60’s the venue became the favoured destination of nightlife seekers and film industry VIP’s. Today the restaurant is still among the most popular with local tourists.
...a love for good food and cuisine and for the local culture are the basis of our success!
